Recently, Mr. Kutbitdinov, Deputy Chairman of the State Committee of the Republic of Uzbekistan on Ecology and Climate Change, visited China and chaired a bilateral symposium on green industrial technologies and green governance in Beijing. EED was invited to attend and delivered a presentation as a professional environmental consultancy.

EED Overseas Project Manager Zhang Yuancheng proposed four cooperation areas—strategic planning, funding/technology, project implementation, and capacity building—to meet Uzbekistan's green development needs. He recommended Uzbekistan adopt China's best practices in low-carbon transition, climate action, ecological restoration, biodiversity, environmental infrastructure, and vocational education to upgrade its policy framework. EED will facilitate connections with international financiers and projects, leveraging multilateral and bilateral channels to conduct joint research, demonstration projects, and training, thereby strengthening China-Uzbekistan green cooperation.

The proposals were well received by participants, who agreed that China and Uzbekistan share strong complementarities and broad prospects in green industries, and that a project-driven approach should guide future collaboration.

Following the symposium, Prof. Zou Tongjian, Vice Rector for Research and Innovation of the Central Asian University for Environmental and Climate Change Studies (Green University), and Dr. Yang Jie from the Silk Road International University of Tourism and Cultural Heritage, who visiting China with Vice Chairman Kutbitdinov, visited EED for in-depth discussions on environmental research and education. Established by a presidential decree in May 2023 under the Ministry of Ecology, Environmental Protection, and Climate Change of Uzbekistan, Green University is the first state-funded university in Central Asia dedicated to ecology, climate change, and green low-carbon development, aiming to become a regional hub for green talent and research collaboration.

Going forward, EED will leverage its expertise to work with Green University on establishing a joint institute for green industrial technologies, serving as a platform to showcase Chinese green standards, technologies, and equipment. This initiative will help extend China’s green industrial chain into Central Asia, moving beyond technology transfer toward shared industrial growth, and injecting new momentum into the China-Uzbekistan green partnership.
