Project Descriptions:
The first ecological protection project in Jiangsu Province implemented and financed by IFIs aims to prevent further degradation of the coastal wetlands in Yancheng, protect and restore the ecological health of Yancheng wetlands, and effectively improve the living environment of animals such as red crowned cranes and deer.

The Project adopts Integrated Ecosystem Management (IEM) concept and a variety of other methods to carry out activities such as wetland management and biodiversity conservation, sustainable natural resource management and alternative livelihoods, ecological monitoring and assessment, and environmental management. This includes the restoration and planning of wetlands in the rare bird nature reserve, bird protection, deer management and conservation, spartina control works, wetland management, ecological agriculture monitoring, and scientific management of eco-tourism. The Project aims to provide strategic planning for wetland protection in Yancheng, and integrate wetland conservation into the current coastal protection planning agenda. The Project will improve the ecosystem of Yancheng and enhance the ecological service functions of coastal wetlands. By integrating wetland ecosystem conservation into local environmental and economic comprehensive decision-making, the Project will achieve coordinated environmental and economic development in Yancheng.

The services we provide:
EED provides technical support for management and environmental governance of Yancheng wetland ecosystem and protected areas, provides technical guidance for PPMO, local PMOs and participants, and provides training and preparation work for wetland and ecological diversity protection plan for two forest farms.

Ecological Wetland Environment Management: The consulting team will conduct site survey to identify various ecological elements of the protected area, strengthen policy research, carry out wetland environmental monitoring, spartina prevention and control, and ecological agriculture evaluation, etc.

Biodiversity Protection in Nature Reserve: Conduct systematic research on the current situation and factors affecting the habitats of birds and deer in nature reserve, and analyze the reasons using GIS databases to protect biodiversity.

Ecotourism Planning: Implement unified planning and management of tourism resources in nature reserve, design and optimize public information center, and enhance public awareness of wetland protection.

Capaciy Building: Prepare quarterly brief work report, semiannual progress report, organize workshop, on-the-job training, and study tour, etc.
